Our story: the birth of the Hiilos clasp
Hiilos is Marie and Robin, we live in Savoie, France.
Our clasp was born from an idea by Marie in 2016: to create customizable multi-strand bracelets using an interchangeable magnetic clasp that allows DIY creators to compose their bracelets as they wish.
Inspired by the markets of Guatemala and Mexico, Marie discovered rich and colorful craftsmanship and imagined a clasp that would make it easy to change bracelet strands.
After several prototypes in metal and plastic, technical testing and filing a patent, we finalized a lightweight, aesthetic and practical magnetic clasp, made in France (Annecy and Jura), and plated with precious metals for the finish (gold and platinum in particular).
How the Hiilos clasp works
Slide in and remove your creations as often as you like
The system allows you to insert and remove your strands as many times as you want. Create unique bracelets adapted to every occasion, without multiplying clasps. If a strand breaks, you can easily replace it and continue using your favorite clasp.
Tubes specially designed for your creations
Attach the tubes to your strands (leather, cord, chain, weavings), then slide them into the clasp.
• Three tube lengths: 11 mm, 20 mm, 40 mm
• Very easy to install
• Endless mix & match possibilities
Thanks to this system, your bracelets become reusable, modular and fully customizable.
Who is it for ? Creators & DIY lovers

FAQ
Interchangeable system & use
Q: Do I need to glue the strands into the clasp ?
A: No – that’s exactly the point of the Hiilos interchangeable clasp.
Unlike classic clasps, there is no need to glue the strands into the clasp. The strands slide in and out of the clasps freely.
Benefits:
• Endless possibilities to change and mix your strands with just one clasp
• No glue, no drying time, no mess
• If a strand breaks, you can remake it easily without redoing the whole bracelet
Q: Can I use the same clasp on different bracelets ?
A: Yes, the Hiilos clasp is designed to be reusable and interchangeable. You can slide your creations in and out whenever you want.
Q: Will my strands stay inside the clasp when it is open ?
A: Yes, the strands are held inside the clasp thanks to the powerful integrated magnets. The metal tubes are attracted by the magnets and naturally stay in place.
At first, when putting on or removing your bracelet, a strand may slip out, but once you get used to it, this won’t happen anymore.
You get the hang of it in just a few days.
Q: Which tube length should I choose with which clasp ?
A: Our tubes are compatible with all our clasps and with many materials.
• In 1 small clasp (11 mm), you can insert :
• 1 tube of 11 mm
• In 1 medium clasp (22 mm), you can insert either :
• 2 tubes of 11 mm
• or 1 tube of 20 mm
• In 1 large clasp (45 mm), you can insert either :
• 4 tubes of 11 mm
• or 2 tubes of 20 mm
• or 2 tubes of 11 mm + 1 tube of 20 mm
• or 1 tube of 40 mm
Clasp security & care
Q: Will my bracelet stay securely on my wrist ?
A: Yes! The Hiilos clasp combines the strength of neodymium magnets with a small safety pin. This double protection ensures your bracelets stay securely closed, even during active movements and everyday activities.
Q: Can the clasp cause allergies ?
A: No, Hiilos clasps are hypoallergenic. They contain no nickel, cadmium or lead, making them safe even for sensitive skin. This applies to all our clasps.
Q: How do I take care of my magnetic clasp ?
A: Simply clean it gently with cotton – nothing else !
Avoid chemicals and prolonged contact with water to preserve the precious metal plating and prevent corrosion of the magnets.
DIY techniques
Q: What length should my bracelet strands be ?
A: For a perfect fit, the length of your strands should match your wrist circumference.
For example, for a 17 cm wrist, your strands should measure 17 cm (length including the tubes). The clasp adds about 1 cm and allows a little flexibility for comfortable closing.
Important : if the bracelet is too short, it may be too tight and come undone. If your bracelet opens by itself, remake your strands slightly longer for comfortable and secure wear.
Q: Should I adjust strand length depending on the material used ?
A: Yes ! Depending on the thickness and type of material, the length should be adjusted.
• For thin ribbons, soft cords or Miyuki weaving, wrist length is sufficient.
• For thicker strands (e.g. beads over 3 mm), it is recommended to add a few extra millimeters per strand to compensate for thickness.
The thicker the material, the more extra length you should add for comfort and secure closing.
Q: How do I attach Hiilos tubes to my strands ?
A: There are several simple techniques depending on your creation:
For multi-strand designs with beads threaded on nylon thread :
Tie a knot at each end of the thread and slide these knots into the small tubes.
You can also add small metal beads (about 2 mm diameter) at each end of the threads ; these beads slide into the tubes.
You can stack as many strands as fit into the tube, as long as there is space.
For Miyuki or seed bead weavings,
slide the first row of beads directly into the tube.
For flat leather and ribbons:
slightly open the tube with the blade of a knife, insert your strand, then gently tighten the tube with pliers. Do not squeeze too hard or you may cut the strand.
Limit use to leather with a thickness of 2 mm or less, otherwise it will not fit into the clasp.
Q: How many woven Miyuki beads can fit into Hiilos tubes ?
A: It depends on the tube size:
• Small tube: up to 7 Miyuki beads
• Medium tube: up to 13 Miyuki beads
• Large tube: up to 27 Miyuki beads
If your weaving is wider than these dimensions, simply reduce the first rows of beads so the weaving can fit into the tube.
Q: How do I adapt Peyote weaving to fit into a Hiilos tube?
A: For Peyote weaving, you need to double the end beads to create a small “thickness” that allows the weaving to fit into the tube.
